Dear Scoutmasters, Adult Leaders, and Campers:

IV.  Online Registration:

Online Registration Website (available by May 2009) - If you have any technical questions about the online process, please contact John Vrbanac at jvrbanac@bsa-la.org.  For general reservation matters, please contact the camping department at EmeraldBay@bsa-la.org or (818) 933-0130.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Some business and many government offices have set their firewall in such a way that the registration website is not accessible.  If you have difficulty accessing the registration system from work, please try again from another location before contacting us.

Please note that the location (IP Address) of the server is subject to change.  If you choose to create a bookmark/favorite for Online Registration, we recommend that you bookmark THIS page, and not the login page so that you will always see the latest update information and have access to a current link to the registration site.

Merit Badge Registration - Merit Badge registration is done online by an adult Registration Leader.

Participation in programs is not dependent on how quickly the registration information is entered.  Accuracy is more important than early registration.

Also, please be certain to check back shortly before you attend camp and make any necessary updates to your Roster or activity registrations.

Password – The unit's password needed to access our database will be emailed to the Primary Contact person in April. The password is only for the adult leader in charge of registration and is not to be given to the Scouts themselves. Through the database the Registration Leader will have access to Roster and Merit Badge information. If you have not received your password by April 10th, please contact the camping department at EmeraldBay@bsa-la.org.

Roster – Before registering Scouts for Merit Badges you will need to build the Troop Roster used for emergencies and accounting of campers.  Please include the names of both youth AND adults.

Minimum Required Roster Information - First Name; Last Name; Gender; Age; Emergency Contact's First Name, Last Name, and Telephone Number.

Merit Badge Class Signup - Once the Roster Information is entered into the database, the Registration Leader will be able to begin the process of registering Scouts for Merit Badges.

Making Changes - You will be able to log back into the database and make changes to the schedule at any time. While we prefer you to stick to your original schedule, you will be able to make adjustments as necessary--even once you get to camp!

We will do what it takes to make sure all Scouts are accommodated within the limits of policy. We will work to get every Scout into the scheduled class that they want to take.

An important note about Water-Skiing Merit Badge – Due to limited equipment, water-skiing will be the one program for which registration is limited. If you have a Scout interested in water-skiing, please ensure they have met all the prerequisites before coming to camp. Also, unless a Scout has had some previous experience water-skiing, this might not be a program at which they will be successful. Scouts will only have 15 minutes a day to ski with five other Scouts in the boat. If a Scout hesitates on getting in the water, precious time is wasted. Please, only register Scouts who are motivated and prepared for this class!

V.  Blue Cards:

Because of our ability to account for Scouts' Merit Badges electronically, Blue Cards will not be needed anymore. At the end of the week, Scouts will receive a printout of passes and partials. We have had no cases of other councils not accepting our forms.
